ZEITGEIST

The Zeitgeist Movement is not a political movement. It does not recognize nations, governments, races, religions, creeds or class. Our understandings conclude that these are false, outdated distinctions which are far from positive factors for true collective human growth and potential. Their basis is in power division and stratification, not unity and equality, which is our goal. While it is important to understand that everything in life is a natural progression, we must also acknowledge the reality that the human species has the ability to drastically slow and paralyze progress, through social structures which are out of date, dogmatic, and hence out of line with nature itself. The world you see today, full of war, corruption, elitism, pollution, poverty, epidemic disease, human rights abuses, inequality and crime is the result of this paralysis.

This movement is about awareness, in avocation of a fluid evolutionary progress, both personal, social, technological and spiritual. It recognizes that the human species is on a natural path for unification, derived from a communal acknowledgment of fundamental and near empirical understandings of how nature works and how we as humans fit into/are a part of this universal unfolding we call life. While this path does exist, it is unfortunately hindered and not recognized by the great majority of humans, who continue to perpetuate outdated and hence degenerative modes of conduct and association. It is this intellectual irrelevancy which the Zeitgeist Movement hopes to overcome through education and social action.

The goal is to revise our world society in accord with present day knowledge on all levels, not only creating awareness of social and technological possibilities many have been conditioned to think impossible or against "human nature", but also to provide a means to overcome those elements in society which perpetuate these outdated systems.

An important association, upon which many of the ideas of this movement are derived come from an organization called " The Venus Project" directed by social engineer and industrial designer, Jacque Fresco. He has worked nearly his entire life to create the tools needed to assist a design of the world which could eventually eradicate war, poverty, crime, social stratification and corruption. His notions are not radical or complex. They do not impose a subjective interpretation in their formation. In this model, society is created as a mirror of nature, with the variables predefined, inherently.

The movement itself is not a centralized construct.

We are not here to lead, but to organize and educate.

Το Κίνημα Zeitgeist δεν είναι ένα πολιτικό κίνημα. Δεν αναγνωρίζει κράτη, κυβερνήσεις, φυλές, θρησκείες ή τάξεις. Η κατανόηση μας δείχνει, ότι αυτές είναι ψευδείς, ξεπερασμένες διακρίσεις, που απέχουν πολύ από θετικούς παράγοντες για την πραγματική συλλογική ανθρώπινη ανάπτυξη και δυναμικό. Βάση των παραπάνω είναι η εξουσία, η διαίρεση και η διαστρωμάτωση, δεν είναι η ενότητα και η ισότητα, που είναι ο στόχος μας.

Έχουμε την πρόθεση να αποκαταστήσουμε τις θεμελιώδεις ανάγκες και την περιβαλλοντική ευαισθητοποίηση μέσω της προώθησης των πιο σύγχρονων αντιλήψεων σχετικά με το ποιοι και τι πραγματικά είμαστε, σε συνδυασμό με το πώς η επιστήμη, η φύση και η τεχνολογία (και όχι η θρησκεία, η πολιτική και το χρήμα) κρατούν τα κλειδιά της προσωπικής μας ανάπτυξης, όχι μόνο ως μεμονωμένα ανθρώπινα όντα, αλλά ως πολιτισμός, τόσο δομικά όσο και πνευματικά.

Ο στόχος είναι να αναθεωρήθει η κοινωνία του κόσμου μας σε όλα τα επίπεδα σύμφωνα με τις γνώσεις του σήμερα. Όχι μόνο για να ευαισθητοποιήσει σχετικά με τις κοινωνικές και τεχνολογικές δυνατότητες, που πολλοί έχουν εκπαιδευτεί να θεωρούν ως αδύνατες ή ενάντια στην "ανθρώπινη φύση", αλλά και για να προωθήσει τα μέσα για την υπέρβαση αυτών των στοιχείων της κοινωνίας που διαιωνίζουν τέτοια παρωχημένα συστήματα.

Η κατανόηση του ότι είμαστε συμβιωτικά όντα και ότι ζούμε σε ένα συμβιωτικό σύμπαν θα πρέπει να έχει σημαντικό αντίκτυπο στον τρόπο που σκεφτόμαστε και ενεργούμε προς τα πάντα και προς όλους.

MUHAMMAD LEGACY OF A PROPHET

This is the story of the man who changed the world in 23 years and continues to influence it today. His father died before he was born, and his mother died when he was only six. Sheltered by a powerful uncle, he made a good start in life, established himself in a profitable business and married well. Then, at the age of 40, he was transformed. A man who could not read or write, he announced that he was the prophet of God. His name was Muhammad, and in the next 23 years he would bring peace to the warring pagan tribes of Arabia and establish the religion of Islam, which today has 1.2 billion followers.

Three years in the making, "Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet," travels in the footsteps of the prophet to the Arabian desert and the holy city of Mecca where much of Muhammad's story unfolded. But the film does not just stay in the past. Much of it's story is told through the observations of contemporary American Muslims, including a fireman at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 a second generation Arab-American family building a community based on Islamic principles, a Congressional Chief of Staff working for justice, and a refugee fleeing religious persecution, whose experiences in some way echo Muhammad's life. With some of the world's greatest scholars on Islam providing historical context and critical perspective, "Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet" is history in the present tense. It tells of intrigue and faith, bitter persecution and the birth of a holy book, brutal war and brilliant diplomacy in a desert environment where tribal allegiance was often the only protection.

The Root of All Evil?

The Root of All Evil? is a television documentary, written and presented by Richard Dawkins, in which he argues that the world would be better off without religion. The documentary was first broadcast in January 2006, in the form of two 45-minute episodes (excluding advertisement breaks), on Channel 4 in the UK. Dawkins has said that the title "The Root of All Evil?" was not his preferred choice, but that Channel 4 had insisted on it to create controversy.[1] His sole concession from the producers on the title was the addition of the question mark. Dawkins has stated that the notion of anything being the root of all evil is ridiculous.[2] Dawkins's book The God Delusion, released in September 2006, goes on to examine the topics raised in the documentary in greater detail. The God Delusion explores the unproven beliefs that are treated as factual by many religions and the extremes to which some followers have taken them. Dawkins opens the programme by describing the "would-be murderers . . . who want to kill you and me, and themselves, because they're motivated by what they think is the highest ideal." Dawkins argues that "the process of non-thinking called faith" is not a way of understanding the world, but instead stands in fundamental opposition to modern science and the scientific method, and is divisive and dangerous.

The God Who Wasn’t There

Former fundamentalist Christian Brian Flemming places the core concepts of his former religion under the microscope in a documentary that attempts to do for religion what Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me did for the fast-food industry. In his bold quest to seek answers to the difficult questions that few are willing to pose, Flemming is joined by Deconstructing Jesus author Robert M. Price, renowned historian Richard Carrier, and The End of Faith author Sam Harris.

From the ignorance of many contemporary Christians as to the origin of their religion to the striking similarities between Jesus Christ and the deities worshipped by ancient pagan cults and the Christian obsession with blood and violence, this faith-shaking documentary explores the many mysteries of the Christian faith as never before.

This documentary argues the “mythicist” case in the historical Jesus debate. This position says that Jesus of Nazareth wasn’t a real person but a ficiton based on Jewish scriptures and mystery religions of the Roman Empire. It doesn’t make sense to talk about a “real” Jesus - there wasn’t any. This documentary has good information but could have been better produced - any high school student could have done a better job. (Barnes & Noble)

Bill Maher interviews some of religion's oddest adherents. Muslims, Jews and Christians of many kinds pass before his jaundiced eye. Maher goes to a Creationist Museum in Kentucky, which shows that dinosaurs and people lived at the same time 5000 years ago. He talks to truckers at a Truckers' Chapel. Fire on the Mountain: A Gathering of Shamans

A film by David Cherniack Productions in association with Global Vision Corporation and Mystic Fire Video Fire on the Mountain: A Gathering of Shamans is a documentary about the connection between consciouness and nature, as embodied in the spiritual traditions of Indigenous Peoples, whose ecological metaphors of the sacred are so relevant to the modern world. We shot the project in 1997 at an historic 10-day gathering of shamans from five continents, who travelled to Karma Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist retreat centre in the Val Saint Hugon in Savoy, in the French Alps, to discuss their concerns with H.H. the Dalai Lama and high-level representatives of the world's religions. This documentary embodies the wish of these Indigenous People - all traditional wisdom-keepers, shamans and medicine-women - who requested us to communicate their message to the world.
